Ulster Tatler Hotelier of the Year 2012

18th September 2012

At a glittering awards ceremony at Belfast's city hotel on Thursday 13 September, Beech Hill owner and manager Patsy O'Kane was awarded the Ulster Tatler People of the Year Hotelier award. along with John Williamson MBE of the Valley Hotel in Fivemiletown won the Ulster Tatler award for Hotelier of the Year! (Incidentally, these pair have between them over 80 years experience in hospitality!!!). Patsy was shocked, stunned, stuck for words (and that doesn't happen too often lol) and she... even shed a wee tear! But she was overjoyed and immensely proud! Moreover, it was a fantastic night for Derry/ L'derry, with Patsy winning her prize and Phil Coulter receiving a very well-deserved lifetime achievement award (I think he may have shed a tear as well lol) and Jason Smyth - Paralympic extraordinaire - receiving a special mention (along with his fellow Paralympian Michael McKillop) for their tremendous feats in London over the past few weeks. So Derry/ L'derry has lots of reasons to be very proud this morning. On a personal note, Patsy would like to sincerely thank all of you who voted her because without that she would not have been receiving that award.
